“Braveprenuer” Expo Showcases Success of Student Businesses

On Tuesday, October 2nd, Alcorn State University (ASU) held the “Braveprenuer” Exposition: A Showcase of Student Businesses from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the Campus Green. From make-up to clothing, the students shined with their versatile opportunistic ventures.

Alcorn students were given the opportunity to tour various businesses on campus by their own peers. Smiles, laughter, and networking strategies radiated throughout the event with each student bringing their own distinctive flair to every operation.

One of the businesses at the Expo was ‘GRE-GANICS’ which was founded by Gregory Richards, a Food, Nutrition and Community Health Science major from Canton, Mississippi. Richards stated, “I initially wanted to make candles, but I could only make them pink and hope they smelled like strawberries but not being detoured I was able to use my background in the culinary arts and my love for herbalism and came up with alternatives to clear skin without chemicals.”

All of Richards’ bars are $7.00 with the options of Oatmeal and Honey, Turmeric and Chamomile, Aloe Vera, Coffee and Cinnamon. He has numerous options for all skin types. Richards stated, “The Turmeric and Chamomile is great for inflammation and lightening of the skin, while the Oatmeal and Honey are for the people with sensitive skin because the Turmeric and Cinnamon can be a little harsh for different skin types. All of my soaps are crafted for everyone.”

Another entrepreneur at the Expo was Austin Young who is a Business Administration major from Chicago, Illinois. His business is called ‘The ChoZen One’s Apparel’. Young’s clothing brand began with him being a tailor, sewing, and having a creative mindset. He considered himself to be separate from the norm. “One day I thought of creating a clothing brand and it started from there. My unique talents set me apart from everyone else which is why I call my vision ‘The ChoZen One’,” stated Young.
