The Alcorn State University (ASU) Braves (0-2, 1-5) procured its first victory of the season on Saturday, October 11th at Spinks-Casem Stadium against the Lincoln University (CA) Oaklanders (0-5, 0-5).
Alcorn dominated every quarter beginning with the first when lightning hit at the 13:01 mark when Running Back Jacorian Sewell scored on a 99-yard run and with Kicker Lorenzo Garcia’s extra point the score was 7-0, Braves. Alcorn wasted no time with Lincoln as they scored again at the 10:12 mark making the score 14-0, Braves.
ASU scored in the second quarter at the 3:06 mark when Wide Receiver Omarion Blakes caught a 3-yard pass from Quarterback Jaylon Tolbert and with Garcia PAT (Point After Touchdown) the Braves were up 21-0.
The third quarter saw the Braves score three times at the 13:57, 10:09 and 4:22 marks respectively making the score 42-0 which is how the game ended.
Alcorn finished with 518 total yards of offense. Tolbert finished the game with 11 completions for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns, Sewell had 177-yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, Wide Receiver Ja’Coby Matthews had 3 receptions for 57-yards while Defensively, Linebacker Tobias Hinton lead all tackles with 6.
The Braves next game will be on Saturday, October 18th at 3:00 pm against the Florida A&M University Rattlers (0-1, 1-4) at Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.
