Braves Host Annual High School/Transfer Day 2024

On September 14th, Alcorn State University (ASU) hosted its annual High School/Transfer Day welcoming and encouraging potential students to attend. The event began at 10:00 am and concluded at 3:00 pm. Current Alcorn students welcomed the potential prospects with smiles as they engaged with the students and enlightened them on all that the University had to offer.

The day began with registration at the Davey L. Whitney Gymnasium (New Gym). Following registration, Brave Ambassadors took several small groups of students on tours around the campus which gave the potential incoming Freshmen and Transfer students the opportunity to see dorm rooms, classroom buildings, the cafeteria, and different facilities around campus.

Students also had the chance to engage with current Alcorn students at a Student Engagement Fair. The Fair was located in the New Gym as well and different organizations set up tables so that the students could come and learn more about the different organizations on campus. This included organizations such as the Divine 9, the Math Society, ASU H.E.R.E.O.S., and much more. At the end of the event the students had an opportunity to attend the Braves’ first home game of the season in Spinks-Casem Stadium where the Braves would defeat the Edward Waters University Tigers, 38-7.

This year Alcorn saw students attend the event from West Point High School, Greenville High School, Hazelhurst High School, South Pike High School, Vicksburg High School, Natchez High School, and many more. West Point High School Senior, Ashanti Jefferson, stated, “I enjoyed the experience and I would highly recommend that my school make attending Alcorn’s High School/ Transfer Day a tradition.”
