Pure Domination! The Alcorn State Braves (5-2, 5-1) had  a flawless game plan as they marched  into A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on a rainy Halloween afternoon and dismantled the Southern University Jaguars (4-4, 4-2) 48-7.

The Braves hit hard and they hit often. At the beginning of the first quarter at the 12:04 mark Marquis Warford scored on a 78 yard scamper to the end zone and with a Haiden McCraney PAT (point after attempt) the score was 7-0, Braves. Right before the end of the first quarter at the 2:06 mark the Braves scored again when quarterback Lenorris Footman scored on a 44 yard run and with a McCraney PAT straight through the uprights the score to end the first quarter was 14-0, Braves.

The Braves continued their offensive onslaught in the second quarter as well when Jordan Payne caught a 29 yard pass from Footman at the 10:52 mark and with a successful PAT by McCraney the score was now 21-0, Braves. The Jaguars got on the scoreboard at the 6:29 mark when Lenard Tillery scored on a 1 yard run and with a Greg Pittman PAT the score was now 21-7, Braves,  which was how the first half ended.

The Braves came out in the third quarter and indeed looked like the SWAC champions that they are. At the 5:52 mark Footman scored on a 17 yard run and with a McCraney PAT the score was now 28-7, Braves.  With only two minutes elapsing from the prior score Alcorn scored yet again when Brandon Campbell caught a 38 yard pass from Footman and with another successful PAT by McCraney the score was now 35-7, Braves. At the end of the third quarter at the 1:24 mark the Braves struck yet again when Footman scored on a 30 yard run but with the McCraney PAT being blocked the score was now 41-7, Braves.

The fourth quarter saw its only score when the Braves scored at the 13:53 mark when Footman scored on a 60 yard run and with a good PAT by McCraney the final score was 48-7.

Alcorn’s next game will be against the Prairie View A&M Panthers (5-2, 5-1) on November 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Spinks-Casem Stadium in Lorman, Mississippi.
