The “Conversations with the Dean” event, hosted by Dr. Antwon D. Woods, Dean of the School of Business, took place on February 20th at 1:00 pm in the Brian K. Johnson Auditorium. The special guest panelist was TK Morgan, a Senior Sales Executive at Shell and graduate of Alcorn State University (ASU). The purpose of this event was for students to ask questions and deepen their understanding of career development in the corporate world.
As an Executive at Shell, Morgan ‘manages a P&L (Profit and Loss) of $90 million while helping young adults navigate corporate America. She has 15 years of experience from working with companies such as John Deere Corporate, Cummins Engine Inc., and General Electric. She has her own career consulting company, Tuesday at 10:30, LLC, to help young adults develop better skills.’
Throughout the event, she shared her personal experiences at Alcorn, highlighting her past internship opportunities and skills that young adults need to succeed. She also discussed her career journey, offering insights on navigating the corporate world and managing workplace
challenges. “When somebody passes you the elevator, you have to send it up to the next person. I want to invest in the next person,” stated Morgan.
Once Morgan was done answering questions from attendees of the event, the School of Business gifted her with a token of appreciation. Allexus Smith, a Junior Business major stated, “I really enjoyed this event. With the advice from Ms. Morgan, I am really looking forward to working in the corporate world.”
