Happiness is the state of being jubilant. However, how do you define a person’s definition of content? Everyone has different things that bring them joy, seeing as they are all unique individuals. Can money buy you happiness? has two common answers. One, true happiness
comes from within, not possessions. Two, yes, if you have enough money. From my standpoint, money can buy you happiness in certain circumstances or it can bring you your biggest sorrow.
According to https://hbswk.hbs.edu, “If we only focus on the happiness that money can bring, I think we are missing something. We also need to think about all of the worries that it can free us from.” Depending on the situation, money can solve a majority of issues. Student loans, bills, budgets, debt, emergency funds, etc. Having adequate funds, especially if you reside in between the middle and higher class, can give you a life of luxury. You get to live without worrying about where your next meal is coming from or if you will have to choose between paying the bills or making sure your kids have sustainable clothing. Living a life filled with stable and sufficient income assures you to be undisturbed by financial inconveniences.
Money makes it easier to be happy in many situations but can not fill an internal void if you struggle with self-confidence or other mental deformities. Money can not fix everything, especially those things that are more internal than external. For instance, if you are insecure about your weight, your wealth can buy you a gastric bypass. After the surgery, you get down to your goal weight and are still feeling insecure. Technically money got you what you wanted but it did not cure the deep internal issue.
According to the book Well-Being: Foundations of Hedonic Psychology, “Money does not buy you happiness, but lack of money certainly buys you misery.” In today’s society, having money gives you power. It indeed runs the world that we live in. If you lack funds, your issues are overlooked and problems are increased. For example, the lower class of the world do not have the luxury of buying whatever nutrients or materials they want and getting money for them is a joyous satisfaction but when they need it, it causes distress.
In any case, it is better to be with money than to be without it. You can not survive without it
unless someone is helping you. Money controls the world. It is how you buy food, clothes, housing appliances and more. Without money you will not last long in the world. If your problems revolve around you lacking in those areas then money will take care of you. Regardless, if what you lack is something money can not truly buy or fix then you will need a different solution.
