HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH ALCORN?

I’ve been at Alcorn for 33 years.

WHAT DOES YOUR JOB ENTAIL?

When I first began working at Alcorn in June of 1991, I was a news reporter and a Jazz announcer, then I transitioned into doing play-by-play for numerous years then when the position of Operations Manager opened, I was hired for that position, and I’ve had that job for the past 20 years.

WHEN YOU’RE AT WORK, HOW DO YOU MOTIVATE YOURSELF?

There is no motivation because I’m doing what I’ve wanted to do since I was 15-years-old. I’m living a dream every day that I come to work. I’m exceptionally appreciative for the position that I’ve been given every day.

IN TERMS OF SUCCESSES, WHICH ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

Longevity and improvement on the product that we offer here at Alcorn. When I first got here we had one mixer, really basic equipment, but over the past 20 years the radio station has stayed up-to-date with technology giving the students the latest knowledge to train with something that they love. My biggest achievement is to stay abreast of the latest trends in the field and relaying that information to the students.

WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE THAT YOU CAN GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO JUST STARTED THEIR CAREER AT ALCORN?

Be patient, stay the course, and don’t get discouraged.
