I loved meeting other girls around the campus and having a fun relaxing time throughout the week.”
Not only was Women’s Empowerment Week geared towards women it also had events that shared advice with the young men of ASU. Thursday, November 9th was day 4 of the week and the theme of the day was “What Not to Wear” which was held in the James L. Bolden Campus Union Ballroom at 6:00 pm. Girl’s Coalition paired up with the modeling group, TREND, in presenting what is and what is not acceptable to wear in certain scenarios. The different scenes were an interview, class and date night. The last day was Friday, November 10th which provided girls with the opportunity to relax all while focusing on skin care and hygiene. The occasion entitled “Girl’s Night In” occurred at 6:00 pm in the James L. Bolden Multipurpose Room and it opened up with mingling and playing a game entitled “Guess that song”. Afterwards, the ladies were paired up and put into three groups. Each group went to a different station which included a face mask station and Do-It-Yourself (DIY) scrubs consisting of different oils. At the next station the young ladies took a scrub, massaged it on their partner’s hand and rinsed it off. Aundrea Lattin, a Biology/Pre-Nursing major, stated, “The Girl’s Night In” was my favorite event of the week. It was fun and the activities provided relaxation for the stressful week I had been having.”
