Twenty-five members of the Honor Student Organization (HSO) donated items to the on-campus Texas Hurricane Harvey Relief Campaign. Items donated were delivered to the ASU Student Government Association (SGA) office on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

Items donated were adult and children’s clothes and shoes, personal items, cleaning items, canned foods, school items, sodas, cases of water, tissues, paper towels and other non-perishable food items.

The purpose of the service project was to show Alcorn’s support to Texas residents and help them in their time of need. Dr. Wandra Arrington, Assistant Director, Honors Curriculum Programs, stated, “Alcorn students come from over 30 states in the United States and we support them at Alcorn and at their home. This project shows that Alcorn students are committed to their school, community and other states.”

The HSO is for students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Students must hold an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.00.
