On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Myles and the Mississippi Small Farm and Agribusiness Center at Alcorn State University (ASU) was awarded with the 2022 National Experiment Station Section Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion award. This award was presented at the Experiment Station Section/Cooperative Extension Section National Administrator Annual meeting. Dr. Elizabeth Myles, the Associate Director for the Mississippi Small Farm and Agribusiness Center received this award for ASU.
Dr. Myles is no stranger to the Brave Community. She is a proud alumna of Alcorn and a leader throughout the Agriculture department. She has been working for the Institution for 24 years.
Dr. Myles started as an Administrative Assistant in the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences and presently she is the Associate Director for the Mississippi Small Farm and Agribusiness Center. Dr. Myles stated, “The Mississippi Agribusiness Center received a grant back in 2021 and we got recognized for the work we’ve done on the farm management educational program for small farmers.” The hard work and dedication put into the Agriculture department and into the farm management educational program is what allowed Alcorn to be granted this award.
The Mississippi Small Farm and Agribusiness Center has been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally. This program plans to grow, promote, and develop small farms and Agribusiness in Mississippi. Dr. Myles is a very passionate person about what she does. She wants to continue growing the University’s programs to continue the legacy of the Center.
