What if the one thing stopping you from getting into MIT was to date a girl? Kissing is the Easy Part is a teen Romantic Comedy (Rom Com), written by Rebecca Webb, based on the popular Wattpad novel by Christine Duann, and directed by Fawzia Mirza. The film was released in February of 2026 on Tubi and has a runtime of 101 minutes.

The film centers on Flora (Paris Berelc), who pretends not to care about grades or college, choosing partying and rebellion over her scientist parents’ expectations, even though she’s secretly smarter and more focused than she lets on. After a party gone wrong, Sean (Asher Angel) walks her home, and Flora’s anxious parents do something wildly unethical but narratively juicy: they offer Sean money and a glowing recommendation letter to MIT if he will date and tutor their daughter, hoping his studious habits will rub off on her.

In my opinion, Kissing Is the Easy Part is a fun, easy-to-watch teen Rom-Com that works best because of the chemistry between Flora and Sean and the warm, comedic energy from the adult characters, especially Sean’s mom and Flora’s eccentric parents. It’s definitely one of those cheesy films where you can tell what’s coming before it happens, but it still delivers plenty of charm, some genuinely funny moments, and a surprisingly heartfelt look at academic pressure and identity, making it feel like a solid pick for a casual movie night or a Galentine’s Day watch.

Kissing is the Easy Part received a 6/10 on IMDb and a ⅗ on Common Sense Media and I agree. The film definitely wasn’t anything special and was just like any other teen film of this era, but I will say it was a good movie.
