Would you go on a deadly game show to earn some cash? Produced and directed by Edgar Wright and Michael Bacall, this film is a Science Fiction and action movie all in one. It is the second adaptation of the 1982 novel by Stephen King and a remake of the 1987 film. It premiered in London on November 5th, 2025, and was released on November 12th in the United Kingdom and released in the U.S. on November 14th by Paramount Pictures. The film received mixed reviews and was a box office hit, grossing $68.6 million worldwide on a budget of $110 million.

The Running Man is a deadly competition where contestants can win $1 billion by surviving 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins. Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is desperate for money to save his sick daughter, so he’s convinced by the show’s ruthless producer to enter the game as his last resort. As ratings go through the roof for Ben, he soon becomes a fan favorite as well as a threat to the entire system.

In my opinion, it was a really good movie and was very dystopian. It kind of portrayed what we’re dealing with now in society. I found it crazy how far the producer would go just for some views, but I do like how Ben stuck to his main goal and was just trying to get money for his kid instead of playing into the system. I think this film did a really good job of showing how people can get so sucked into the media that they believe everything they see and only believe what they want to believe. Ben was being deceived by the producer but everyone watching the show only saw how bad of a person he was. I will say that the ending was more anti-climactic than I thought it would be and I think that it would’ve been cool if they had ended the film with a cliff-hanger or if Ben decided to go on the bad side. All in all, it was a very entertaining movie and is definitely worth a watch.

The Running Man received 63% percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.4/10 on IMDb and honestly, I don’t agree.  Although I haven’t seen the older one, I think that they did a good job on portraying the dystopian vibe.
