On Wednesday, April 2nd and Thursday, April 3rd at 5:30 pm in the Alcorn State University (ASU) Ball Room, the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life hosted a two-day event entitled The Whole Truth HBCU Tour.
On Wednesday, the event began with a game to break the ice with the audience to get them engaged. Afterwards, the audience got to meet the guest speakers for the night, Pastor Mike and Tara Wickers. The couple began by greeting the crowd and telling them about themselves sharing that they had been in love since they were 14-years-old. They shared how, even though their love stood the test of time, it wasn’t always easy. They revealed that they were staunch supporters of the pro-life movement due the decision that they had to make since they found out that they were expecting a child at the age of 16. Since choosing not to have a baby that young, they have a different outlook on the topic of abortion today.
The couple shared how there is not enough talk about how an abortion takes a toll on a person mentally and through their personal experience discussed the harrowing experience. A video was then presented to the audience by the duo expounding on their experience with abortion and how that decision still has monumental effects on them.
On Thursday, 3 new panelists, Lisa Fields, the Jude 3 Project, Justin Giboney, the And Campaign and Damon Richardson, Urban Apologist, were introduced and interviewed by Reverend Dr. C. Edward Rhodes II, Alcorn’s Director of Religious and Spiritual Life. The conversation consisted of Christianity and its true origins.
The two-day event convened with each panelist receiving a gift bag from Alcorn and a heartfelt thank you for their presentations.
