Parys’ Principle: The Advice Column (November 17, 2025)

Dear Parys:

I need your help ASAP! I am in a relationship with this real down to Earth young lady. She treats me well and we’re like two peas in a pod, even though we’ve only been dating for one year. I am a Sophomore here at Alcorn and I think that the environment is getting the best of me. It’s like every time I look around, there’s a beautiful woman approaching me wanting to get to know me better. My girlfriend is gorgeous, articulate, and an overall great person and I don’t want to lose her, but the recent temptation has been strong lately. How do I stay faithful within my fairly new relationship without straying?

Trying To Stay Faithful

Dear Trying To Stay Faithful:

I get it, temptation’s real, especially in college, but you have to handle it if you want to stay faithful. Noticing other girls isn’t the problem, it’s what you do about it that matters.

If you think that you can’t handle yourself around other girls, be real. Don’t cheat and don’t hide it. Your girlfriend is loyal and she deserves better than that.

Focus on her and why you’re with her. Set boundaries for yourself and avoid situations where temptation gets too strong. Appreciate what makes her special and remind yourself why you chose her.

And honestly, college is a time to figure yourself out. If you’re not ready to fully commit, don’t put yourself in a position to hurt someone. Staying faithful is about self control, respect, and being real with yourself.
