On Thursday, March 20th, Alcorn State University’s (ASU) Royal Court and Student Engagement hosted the 2025 Mister and Miss Alcorn Pageant. The Pageant took place in the James L. Bolden Campus Union Ballroom at 7:00 pm.
The Pageant introduced the contestants for Mister and Miss Alcorn, Mister and Miss Senior, Mister and Miss Junior, and Mister and Miss Sophomore. The contestants for Mister Alcorn were Camron Parker, who is the current Mister Junior, and Ezekiel Harris. The participants for Miss Alcorn were Jhada Wade and Aniya Mitchell. The Miss Senior candidates were Jamyiyah Cotton, A’zarianne Johnson, and India Turner. The Miss Junior participants were Nikibriele Rolling and Alaila Muhammad. Running for Miss Sophomore were London Payne, Ashlyn Robbins, Ameila Daniels, Kortneigh Dixon, La Kya Perkins, Kennedi Cook, and Gabrielle Robinson. Candidates who ran unopposed were Kameron Hopson for Mister Senior, Chrisshun Armstrong for Mister Junior and Jummerion Elliot for Mister Sophomore.
Jordan Davis, the Student Engagement Coordinator, opened the Pageant and the Royal Court introduced the contestants. The contestants walked in style with an old Western theme and later returned in professional suits and dresses. The contestants used a variety of ways to show the audience that they were perfect for the position that they sought by doing performances that included dancing, acting, singing, reciting poetry, and answering questions from the Royal Court. Afterwards, the current Mister and Miss Alcorn, Jeremiah Farmer and Ariel Knott received a tribute entitled ‘The Final Walk’. The tribute was a homage to them for what they have done for the University.
As the judges made their final decisions, all of the contestants returned together on the stage. Assistant Director of Student Engagement, Kelunda Thomas revealed the judges’ picks as to who won each category. The judges chose Kennedi Cook as Miss Sophomore and Alaila Muhammad as Miss Junior. There was a one-point difference in the pick for Miss Alcorn with Jhada Wade being chosen as the winner and Aniya Mitchell as runner-up. Lastly the judges chose Ezekiel Harris as Mister Alcorn and Camron Parker as the runner-up.
