Scott Donates $42 million to Alcorn

On Wednesday, October 28th, it was announced that MacKenzie Scott, philanthropist and novelist, donated an unrestricted gift of $42 million to Alcorn State University (ASU) marking it the largest gift ever bestowed upon the University.

This donation marks the second major contribution from Scott. In 2020 she donated $25 million to the University making the grand total of her contributions at $67 million.

Alcorn plans to allocate the funds for infrastructure, endowments, academic programs and student success.

President of Alcorn, Dr. Tracy M. Cook, stated, “We are deeply grateful to philanthropist MacKenzie Scott for her commitment and confidence in Alcorn. This gift opens a new chapter for the University.”
