SGA Hosts Organization Fair

On Thursday, January 15th, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, the Student Government Association (SGA) hosted the Annual Organization Fair in the Ecology Building on Alcorn State University’s (ASU) campus. This Fair supplied students with the opportunity to venture out of their shell and join or explore the different organizations that they are interested in during the Spring 2026 semester.

Many clubs/organizations provided a plethora of features that represented them both academically and culturally. Some organizations that participated in the Fair were the National Society of Black Women in Medicine, Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society, Student Trainers, Alcorn Braves Ambassadors, the Psychology Society, Golden Dynamite, The TREND, Alcorn State University Biology Club, IMPACT, ASU Wesley Foundation, Campus Activity Board, Social Science Society, the Myrlie Evers-Williams Honors Program, and Girl’s Coalition.

The Fair had positive outcomes for the students who were exploring their options. Tory Turner II, a 20-year-old Sophomore majoring in Agricultural Business, expressed, “I do think that it helps. I think that everybody out here really came wanting to show off their organization and wanting to represent something really well. I believe that it just pours out Black excellence.”

Alissa Cooper, a 20-year-old Biology Pre-Nursing major from Detroit, Michigan, and a member of the National Society of Black Women in Medicine, stated, “They Fair helps with your career and what you are going into. It really is an amazing tool for students to explore.” The event concluded with a statement of appreciation to everyone who attended by SGA President Avantavis T. Carter.
