Shadarius Williams, a Senior Nursing major at Alcorn State University (ASU) is more than just a student—she’s a young woman with a deep passion for caring for others and a drive to make a difference in healthcare. Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Williams recently completed an internship at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, where she worked at Methodist North Hospital. Her hands-on experience in the Emergency Department and Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit has fueled her commitment to becoming an exceptional nurse.
For Williams, Nursing is more than a career—it’s a calling. At Methodist North, she experienced what it’s like to work on the front lines of healthcare, dealing with patients in critical conditions. The Emergency Department was fast-paced and unpredictable, requiring her to stay calm under pressure while supporting doctors and nurses treating life-threatening conditions. In the Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit, she worked with patients recovering from major heart surgeries, learning how to provide post-operative care and monitor their progress. These moments of caring for others on their road to recovery left a lasting impression on her and deepened her love for Nursing.
In addition to her busy life as a Nursing student, Williams is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Being a part of this sisterhood has given her more than just a sense of community—it’s also allowed her to grow as a leader and serve her community. Through Delta Sigma Theta, she’s participated in service projects that promote health and wellness, and she draws inspiration from the sorority’s rich history of empowering women and advocating for social justice.
Balancing the demands of her Nursing program and her responsibilities in Delta Sigma Theta isn’t always easy, but she manages it with grace and determination. Her experiences, both in the hospital and through her sorority, have taught her how to lead with compassion and resilience. Williams is on a path to becoming a Nurse who will not only heal but also uplift those around her.
