Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite Take New Orleans by Storm

Alcorn State University’s Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite gave New Orleans the show of a lifetime by blessing Mardi Gras participants with a fun parade in the Mid-City and Uptown areas.

Annually, the city of New Orleans kicks off the Mardi Gras celebration with parties, food, and parades along Bourbon Street, Canal Street, and all across the city. The band attended the Krewe of Endymion parade which was located in Mid-City New Orleans and the Krewe of Orpheus parade which was located in Uptown New Orleans. The band featured songs such as “American Boy” by Estelle, “Cuff It” by Beyoncé, and the crowd’s favorite, “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi.

“When we heard that the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite were performing, we packed our bags and traveled all the way from Dallas, Texas to New Orleans just to hear our favorite band in person,” says Darryl Bailey, Alcorn alumni, along with his wife LaTonya Bailey.

The band is best known for respecting its traditions through the presentation of clean sounds and classic musical compositions. The band plans on continuing to march parades throughout the Spring semester as well as participate in competitions, recruiting trips, and basketball
performances.
