Campaign week for the 2023-24 school year did not disappoint. With beautiful Spring weather, candidates vying to represent Alcorn State University (ASU) in its immense capacity campaigned from March 20th – 27th. Candidates running for the Student Government Association (SGA) positions were given a chance to properly introduce themselves and speak about their platform at The Plaza on March 22nd at 6:00 pm. The Mister and Miss Alcorn Pageant took place on March 27th in the Campus Union Ballroom at 6:00 pm which was hosted by the 96th Miss Alcorn State University 2022-2023, Bria Fells, and Mr. Alcorn, Kendrick Walker Jr.
Voting took place on Tuesday, March 28th. Students received a ballot via their school email where they could vote from 9:00 am – to 5:00 pm. In order for a candidate to win they would have to receive 50 percent of the vote. If not, there would be a run-off on Thursday, March 30th from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. The results were announced later that day at 6:00 pm in The Plaza.
