And the Winners are ……

Campaign week for the 2026-27 school year was undoubtedly the biggest event in March. With considerable effort, candidates vying to represent Alcorn State University (ASU) in its 155th year of institution campaigned from March 16th to 20th. Candidates running for the Student Government Association (SGA) positions were given a chance to properly introduce themselves and present their platform on Monday, March 17th, at the E. E. Simmons Gymnasium at 6:30 pm. Later during the week, the Mister and Miss Alcorn Pageant took place on Friday, March 20th, in the Student Union Building at 7:00 pm.

Voting took place on Friday, March 20th. Students received a ballot via their school email where they could vote from 9:15 am to 5:15 pm. In order for a candidate to win, they would have to receive 50 percent of the vote. If not, there would be a run-off on Monday, March 23rd, from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and after the votes had been tallied, the results would be announced at 8:00 pm in the Game Room at the Student Union Building. There were no run-offs for any positional titles this year. The students also voted for an increase to their student activity fee from $50 to $75 upon which the majority of students voted yes. The Sophomore cabin member will be announced on a later date. The newly elected officials for the 2026-2027 academic school year are as follows:
