T’Amber Butler is a 21-year-old Vicksburg, Mississippi native and the daughter of Albert and Lula Butler. She is currently serving as the 2020-2021 President of the Impact Community Service Organization at Alcorn State University (ASU). While attending ASU, she has also become a member of other prestigious groups such as the Honor Student Organization and the National Society of Leadership and Success. Butler is a Senior Psychology major with plans after graduation of attending graduate school to obtain her Masters in Psychology.

Impact was founded in 2017 by Alcornites Tytiana Smith and Ke’Errika Braxton. It’s purpose is to serve Alcorn’s student body, faculty and surrounding communities through clothing drives, clean up services, and volunteering at nearby nursing homes. Butler joined Impact during her Sophomore year in August of 2019 with the goal of becoming a leader. She was voted in as President in September of 2020 with her mission being to make the organization more efficient and upholding the standards laid out by the founders of the organization.

While attending Vicksburg High School (VHS), Butler was introduced into the world of governing. She spent 3 years on VHS’s Student Government Board as its secretary, maintaining the event schedule of her class cabinet, planning class trips and overlooking fundraisers. She believes her dedication to any job, her passion for helping others, and her prior experience are what best qualifies her to lead the Impact Organization.

As President, Butler wants to hold more events that will shed light on the importance of service while also keeping traditions from the past years going. When passing the baton onto the next President of Impact, she wants them to remember what the purpose of the organization is, which is service. “If they remember to put the purpose first, then they will have a wonderful year leading the organization,” she stated.

On Wednesday, October 7th, Impact participated in the Organizational Fair on campus which was an opportunity for students to come and sign up to become a member of the organization. Impact expects their members to participate in most events held throughout the year and promote the events throughout their social media networks. The organization normally holds up to 10 to 12 events per semester, however, due to Covid-19, it has had to make adjustments to the events that were scheduled. The next event Impact will be hosting will be a Campus Cleanup on Tuesday, October 20th.
