On Sunday, January 26th, in Los Angeles, California, The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards graced the nation’s television screens with its electrifying night of music. The Grammys were hosted by music icon, Alicia Keys, for the second year in a row. Although The Grammys is a night where fans praise artists for their record setting music, it is also a night where celebrities show off their creative, stylish and unique fashion choices.
This year many celebrities embraced the peachy pink and rosey red color, but the most iconic looks of the nights embraced styles of their own. One of the best dressed looks of the night had to go to Ariana Grande. She wore a larger than life light grey tulip ball gown with matching over the elbow grey gloves. Like always, Grande wore her signature high genie ponytail with a peachy nude lip. The stunning dress was created by Giambattista Valli, who is known for her detailed tulip dresses.
One of the most highly anticipated arrivals of the night was Billy Porter. Porter is a 50-year-old well known actor and singer. Whether it’s the Oscars, Golden Globes Awards or The Met Galla, he knows exactly what to wear in order to make headlines. At the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, Porter wore a bright sparkly blue disco fantasy jumpsuit with a matching crop top jacket. To take the outfit to the next level Porter wore a 360 degree silver fringed hat that covered his face. To ensure that his face wasn’t covered all night, his stylist, Sam Ratelle, designed the hat in such a way that allowed it to open and close with a handheld remote. If anyone ever had a doubt that Porter couldn’t top his white feather train at the Golden Globes or his iconic tuxedo dress at the Oscars then they were certainly proven wrong tonight.
Besides Grande’s grey tulip dress and Porter’s show stopping fringed hat, many other artists served dashing looks as well. Lizzo graced the red carpet in an all white Atelier Versace gown. The white gown was embellished with silver sequence and had a thigh high split with a furry shawl to match. Chrissy Teigen showed up in an eye glaring orange Yanina Couture gown. The gown featured dramatic voluminous ruffled sleeves with a plunging deep V neckline. Although The Grammys had many star studded looks, some celebrities missed the target completely. Camila Cabello decided to channel her inner dark princess. She wore an all black ballgown with a crinoline skirt made by Versace that required everyone watching to pay close attention to detail to truly see its potential. Another miss on the Grammy red carpet was FKA Twigs. The star’s over the top gown seemed more like a costume than a fashion statement. Her dramatic neckline along with her over the top embroidery skirt left the audience feeling overwhelmed in all of the created designs.
Throughout the night many celebrities gave the audience jaw dropping looks but one of the favorites had to come from Alicia Keys. She opened the show in a stunning silver metal mesh gown that was designed by Atelier Versace. Her waist snatching dress featured an asymmetric shoulder with a dramatic but light draping along the right sleeve.
The 62nd Annual Grammy Award’s red carpet will forever be a fashion moment molded into the minds of its viewers. This night will remain a night where celebrities pushed the envelope and truly embraced their creative style.
