The Green Cleanse, in my opinion, is a height of fashion where we are headed for a possible trend in 2022. The Green Cleanse doesn’t just deal with the color Green, it varies and refers to the newfound sustainability of fashion pieces such as less is more comfort, soft and soothing fabrics, vintage pieces, and the overall progress within fashion and the economy.
The pandemic has played a massive role in people dipping into the “less is more” style due to loungewear gaining enormous popularity in 2021. Many individuals are now finding comfort in clothes that they can wear inside and outside while still looking neat and cohesive. More people are starting to lean towards soft and flexible fabrics with the ongoing fashion trends, whether in a bold pop color or neutrals. Modal fabric, a gentle eco-friendly alternative to cotton, has made its way into many fashion brands and stores worldwide. Many consumers have been buying pieces made of luxurious fabric without even knowing it.
With fashion trends coming and going, many people also appreciate more vintage fashion pieces. From Zendaya wearing vintage Valentino SS ’92 at the Euphoria season 2 premiere to Cardi B wearing vintage 1995/96 Thierry Mugler at the 2019 Grammys, many celebrities have been diving into vintage archival pieces. The 90’s fashion archive is very legendary in many ways from designers worldwide. 90’s fashion was exhilarating, innovative and at its height. With the growth of vintage pieces making their way as a statement in style, Resell apps such as Depop, Poshmark, and TheRealReal are gaining popularity as more people are starting to invest in vintage pieces.
Within the Green Cleanse, the color Green has been making its statement in the fashion world as more people gravitate towards the pop color. A contributing factor for this can be Daniel Lee and his contributions to the brand Bottega Veneta and its signature bright Green hue referred to as “Bottega Green.” With the new popularity of Green, many people pair the pop color with traditional neutrals/basics, making a well-put-together contrasted look. Hopefully, we will continue this “Green Cleanse” trend as it is an overall better image for the economy and fashion in general.
