The video game world as we know it is a prestigious and very popular industry today. You have so many different games in the world that are very enjoyable to play, such as role-playing games, action and adventure games, and of course the most popular, sports. Sports video games are popular because of the broad selection that they have to offer, but there is one video game that is the talk around the internet since the announcement of its return. That game is none other than NCAA College Football 25.
It is no secret that NCAA 25 is getting a lot of attention from being back on the scene after not releasing a video game since College Football 14, but there is a lot of room for improvement. According to Reddit.com, “College Football 25 nails the on-field action with a dynamic feel, stellar graphics, and tons of smart gameplay tweaks. However, so much of what’s off the field feels unfinished, with UI issues and barebones modes that seem like they are waiting for a rebuild next season.”
There are improvements that need to be handled across the entire game, but some of the main problems lie in the gameplay. For example, the offensive line for a lot of good teams don’t block efficiently and the spin move is basically a spam move in the game. Also, another thing that I would love to see the game improve upon is adding Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams on the official launch with the next video game, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In the previous game, FCS teams were able to be played, but according to The Daytona Beach News–Journal, “When College Football 25 was announced, EA Sports said all 134 FBS schools would be included, but none of the 129 FCS teams. That changed with the release of the new Team Builder.”
While the game has a lot to improve on, it has some nice features and modes such as Dynasty Mode and Road to Glory which are some of the best and most notable features in the game. With Dynasty Mode, you can play in a simulation where you are a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, or Defensive Coordinator of a college team of your choosing and compete for either a Bowl game or National Championship depending on your record. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) also implemented recruiting with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), so it’s almost as if you are the coach.
The game also lets you hold practices and lets you improve the players you have on your roster, which I found to be pretty cool. During the offseason, that is your time to go into the transfer portal and recruit guys from other schools to improve in positions where your main guys may either be graduating, or they are projected to go get drafted. According to The Crimson White, “It’s hard to find flaws in Dynasty mode. This feature is the main reason fans begged for a new college football game, and it has more depth to match the newness of the real-life game. The fact that Dynasty was great in previous games but has improved even more is why fans are ecstatic about its return.” In Road to Glory, you can play as a created player and grind your way to being the best college prospect you can be. According to EA.com, “Road to Glory is designed to be fast-paced and fun, ensuring that you’re always in the thick of the action. With multiple storylines and pathways to explore, each playthrough offers a unique and fresh experience.” Road to Glory allows you to pick between five positions to play on the field. You can choose to be either a Quarterback, Running back, Wide Receiver, Cornerback, or a Linebacker. NCAA 25 is a great comeback game, but they can also improve in different areas.
