Fashionably Forwarded/Upcoming stylist Desmond Stewart is a Senior Business Administration major from Lena, Mississippi. He has been featured on many popular Instagram platforms such as HBCU Drip, Peerless Magazine, Scholardrip, etc. Finding his passion for fashion in his Junior year of high school, Dez always used fashion as an outlet to express himself. In 2018, he found his own personal style after he stopped following trends and figured out what attributed to what he liked for his personal style.
Dez is inspired by the styles of celebrities such as Teyana Taylor, ASAP Rocky, and many more. The Fashionable aesthetic of preppiness, streetwear, modesty, businesswear, and sportswear all in one helped him develop his own personal style. His favorite fashion pieces that are essential to his wardrobe vary from hats, cardigans, sneakers, and glasses/shades. His current favorite fashion trends are chunky rings, layering necklaces, baseball caps, and many more.
He has styled many people in the nearby Mississippi area. For Dez, personal styling is a way to express and enhance confidence in a person. When styling someone, he looks into the person’s style, how they carry themselves, their attitude, and sees what can be enhanced to achieve a top-tier styling look. For anyone still trying to find their personal style, Dez says, “Dress for your body type, have inspiration and most importantly have fun when putting pieces together.” In the near future, he looks forward to having a career in fashion and has hopes of one day becoming an executive in the fashion industry. For now, he wants to continue working on his personal styling business and growing to get to where he wants to be in life.
