The Alcorn State University Braves (0-2, 0-0) walked into Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday, September 10th at 6:00 pm to eradicate the losing feeling from last week by taking their frustrations out on the Tulane Green Wave (2-0, 0-0), but things didn’t exactly go as planned.
Tulane struck early in the first quarter at the 7:59 mark when Kicker Kriston Esnard nailed a 27-yard field goal to go up 3-0. The Green Wave went on to score 14 more points to end the first quarter 17-0. The only bright spot in the first quarter for the Braves was when Defensive lineman Tyler Smith recovered a fumble but Alcorn couldn’t produce any points on the turnover.
The second quarter was more of the same as the Green Wave scored twice making the score 31-0 at the half.
Tulane pushed the gas pedal in the third quarter and never looked back at they scored two more times making the score 45-0.
The final score in the game came in the fourth quarter at the 8:08 mark when Running back Justin Ibieta scored on a 3-yard run and with an extra kick by Graham Dable the final score was 52-0, Green Wave.
Statistically, Tulane had 558 yards of total offense. The offensive leaders for the Braves were Quarterback MarKevion Quinn who was had 2 completions for 34-yards, Running back Javonta Leatherwood had 30 rushing yards and Wide receiver CJ Bolar had 1 catch for 19 yards. Defensively, Linebacker Terreance Ellis lead all tackles with 9.
Alcorn’s next game will be Saturday, September 17th at 7:00 pm at Cowboy Stadium in Lake Charles, Louisiana against non conference opponent McNeese State University Cowboys (0-2, 0-0).
