UPLIFT Leadership Program Graduation Ceremony

On April 9, 2024, the UPLIFT Leadership Program Graduation Ceremony was held at Tougaloo College. Tyarian Carson, Mckyla Luckett and Taniyah Parnell received certificates for completing the program. The UPLIFT Leadership Program coordinator is Joy Reeves.

The Mississippi Power UPLIFT Leadership Program was a semester-long program for students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Mississippi. The HBCUs that participated were Alcorn State University, Jackson State University, Tougaloo College, and Mississippi Valley State University.

The purpose of the program is to inspire, engage, and develop a group of emerging young adult leaders as they transition from college to their careers. Throughout the program, the participants met in small groups with mentors and recognized leaders throughout the program to discuss topics such as effective relationships, self-discovery, presentation skills, business acumen, personal branding, and effective networking. The participating schools rotated the sessions between the campuses. Attending all five sessions were required for students to graduate.
