On April 18, 2017 La’Keilla Veal was crowned the new Miss Mass Communications for the 2017-2018 academic school term. Veal is the daughter of Joyce and Larry Veal. She is a Junior Mass Communications major from Woodville, Mississippi.  In her spare time she enjoys eating, shopping and perfecting some of her favorite crafts which include editing or simply reading to increase her knowledge. She also enjoys dedicating much of her time to the several organizations in which she is involved in on campus.

Veal is an active member of the Gamma Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Honors Student Organization, the Mass Communications Club and currently serves as the President of Lambda Pi Eta which is the official National Communications Honors Society.

During her upcoming reign as Miss Mass Communications she plans to lead the department in a positive direction and show others that there is far more to the Mass Communications department than what they see.

“I’ve always wanted to put my best foot forward and put my leadership skills to use within my department. It is important to me that others see what our department is truly made of which is success driven students and the next best news anchors and radio personalities,” said Veal.

Veal says that she is more than honored that her fellow peers chose her to serve as their new Miss Mass Communications for the upcoming school year.

“I am more than grateful for this opportunity. I look forward to embarking upon this new journey to lead my classmates and future prospective students in the department in the right direction by incorporating more social events for us. I think it is very important that we network better amongst ourselves first,” said Veal.
