Ward-Wheeler Crowned Ms. Campus Chronicle

Parys Nicole Ward-Wheeler has been named Ms. Campus Chronicle in the Department of Mass Communications 2025-2026 at Alcorn State University (ASU).

Ward-Wheeler, 20, the daughter of Erica Ward and Marcus Wheeler, is a Sophomore Mass Communications major from East Point, Georgia. She graduated from Long Beach High School in Long Beach, Mississippi in 2024. After graduation, Ward-Wheeler chose Alcorn as her institute of higher education for the next four years because of its welcoming environment and its Communications major. She stated, “I chose Mass Communications as my major because I love being creative and putting out content that reflects what I want to do for the rest of my life. I enjoy photography, public speaking and writing.”

Upon joining the Department in the Fall of 2024, she became active by co-hosting a Podcast entitled ‘Unfiltered Minds’ with classmate Landon Badon, became a member of The Campus Chronicle (Alcorn’s online student newspaper) where she has 15 plus articles from a variety of subjects (Advice Columnist, Stump the Student host, and General Assignment reporter), became a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and became Ms. Campus Chronicle. “Winning the title of Ms. Campus Chronicle is indeed an honor. I have the opportunity to represent our Department in a positive light and I plan on doing just that. One key campaign promise that I’m going to do first is get a QR Code set up for The Chronicle. Everyone deserves to see the magnificent work that the students within the Mass Communications Department here at Alcorn are doing.”

Ward-Wheeler will be graduating in the Spring of 2028 and afterwards plans on becoming an Advertising Executive then matriculating into writing scripts as a Hollywood writer. Her motto in life is to Live, Love, Laugh and enjoy your life to its fullest while you’re here.
