Lljuna Weir, an Alcorn State University graduate, has been employed at Alcorn State University (ASU) for 22 years. Being a known face in and around the University, she has involved herself in the campus community developing relationships with students, faculty, and staff. Weir’s passion and commitment has allowed her to gain many opportunities while employed at ASU.

Her first position was Operation’s Manager/Program Director at WPRL 91.7 FM  (Alcorn’s radio station). During her time there, she formatted music and radio shows, produced documentaries and jazz programs and taught radio production. Weir also trained and provided students with jobs as radio personalities. She has an immense passion for music and public speaking. Today she still hosts programs and provides entertainment for the University at sporting and formal events.

The promotions continued for Weir as she was appointed to the position of Interim Director of University Relations for three years. Afterwards, she was promoted to the position of Associate Athletic Director for Communications/Senior Women Administrator. She oversaw women’s soccer, cross country for men and women and women’s tennis as well as being the spokesperson for the Department of Athletics.

After a few years with the Athletic Department she took the position as the Educational, Equity and Inclusion, Title IX Director. Being over this position, Weir brought safe and secure guidelines to the student body, helping them to become aware and educated about Title IX issues and events dealing with sexual assault.

Currently, she focuses on Educational Equity and Inclusion and Diversity. She is here to help the student body and campus community address issues dealing with discrimination, racism and the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ) community. Her goal is to ensure students, faculty and staff feel affirmed and empowered on campus.

Educational Equity and Inclusion has set out to celebrate and learn the differences in cultures, religion, race, ethnicity and other related topics. It offers many resources for students who need help or want to address these everyday life issues. Some activities that the department has in store for this academic school year involves, Courageous Conversations, Diversity Dialogue, Diversity and Motivation workshops, and Diversity Recruitment.
