As we all know the holidays are rapidly approaching which means it is a time of giving and helping our fellow man. From November 15th through December 20th 2015, WPRL 91.7 FM, Alcorn State University’s radio station, will hold its annual toy drive. The coordinator and founder of the project is Jerome Myles, the Gospel Director of WPRL. The program began four years ago which services both Jefferson and Claiborne Counties.
The annual toy drive helps out the community and parents who are unable to provide gifts for their children. The joy of this experience are the smiles on the children’s faces when they receive and open presents that they normally wouldn’t get. “The toys are given out the week of Christmas. We take them to the different agencies and hand them out to the kids. They are always so excited when they receive the toys,” says Myles.
WPRL asks that toys be bought for both girls and boys up to the age 13. Toys can then be dropped off at WPRL’s radio station on the Lorman campus located at the back of the Industrial Technology Building. Drop offs are from Monday through Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. If for some reason you are not able to drop the toys off, you may call the station for pick-up at (601)-877-6290 or (601)-877-6594 and someone will happily come and pick the toys up for you. The deadline to bring toys is December 20, 2015.
The WPRL family thanks everyone in advance for their support and services. For more information, please contact Jerome Myles at (601) 877-6290 or jmyles@alcorn.edu.
