Is he hard to understand at times, well maybe a little, but Kanayo Ugboaja was not given his roles as fiscal officer and budget analysis for no reason.

Ugboaja attended high school at a federally run institution called the Federal Government College which is located in Ogbomoso, a city located in Oyo State, Nigeria. Attending one of the 104 Federal Government owned unity colleges, Ugboaja confessed to being a member of the Drama Club while also holding the position of Prefect for the Student Leadership. On the other hand, he was not one to go all out in the classroom mainly referring to himself as a “C” student.

Ugboaja’s household was a very blessed situation for him to be in. Both of his parents were entrepreneurs having businesses such as, manufacturing, food processing, undergarment design, real estate, etc. In the midst of handling their businesses, his parents made sure their son had a strong belief in Christianity if nothing else. Like all parents, they wanted their son to be as prepared as possible as he was preparing to enter a new world.

After graduating high school in 1994, Ugboaja stated, “I came to America in 1995 and with strong influences from my parents I ended up attending Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. While at Delta State he took upon the task of studying Accounting and Business Administration. He was a part of Student Government while also holding the position of President of the Upsilon Delta Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Ugboaja was also a member of Delta Mu Delta and a member of Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society.

He graduated from Delta State in 1999 with a Bachelors in Business Administration and Accounting. Ugboaja returned to school on two more occasions and received a Masters of Professional Accountancy in 2001 and in 2004 he earned a Masters in Business Administration.

Ugboaja is currently the Fiscal Officer/Administrator for the School of AREAS (Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences). He stated that, “It was an opportunity for me to make a better career opportunity for myself.” He is basically responsible for handling all of the money that is at the Agriculture Department’s disposal.

Ugboaja takes advantage of every opportunity he has to help someone in need and he genuinely enjoys every second of it. He stated, “In life there are always bumps in the road and nothing came easy to me, so I want to be sure I can share my experience with the younger generation.”
