Actor’s Spotlight: Bill Skarsgard


Bill Skarsgard was born on August 9, 1990 in Vallingby, Sweden. He is no stranger being on the big screen like the rest of his family who are also actors. Actors such as his father, Stellan, and his brothers Alexander, Gustaf, and Valter. He received his education from Sodra Latin in Sweden. He’s been acting since 1999 but he got his first leading role as Simon in Simple Simon in 2011. In 2012, he won the European Film Academy’s Shooting Stars Award. Skarsgard also played in the Netflix original Hemlock as Roman Godfrey in 2013.

He was featured on the cover of Hero, a bi-annual men’s fashion and culture magazine in 2014. His father interviewed him in the issue. By 2016, Skarsgard landed his first major American film role in the Sci-Fi thriller, The Divergent Series: Allegiant. He also co-starred in the film Atomic Blonde in 2017. In 2018, he was a series regular on the show Castle Rock and in Deadpool 2 he portrayed the comic book character Zeitgeist. He is best known for portraying his current role as Pennywise, the Dancing Clown, in the supernatural horror films IT in 2017 and IT: Chapter 2 in 2019.

Still planning to be part of more upcoming films in the near future, Skarsgard is truly making a name for himself.
