Late rapper Pop Smoke released his second mixtape ‘Meet the Woo 2’ on February 7, 2020. This would be his last musical endeavor before his untimely death on February 19th. The mixtape was produced by 808 Melo under the labels Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records. It includes 13 tracks plus 3 additional tracks on a deluxe edition of the album that was later released. ‘Meet the Woo 2’ has features from Quavo, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Fivio Foreign and Lil Tjay. The mixtape, as a whole, charted to #7 on the US Billboard 200.

“Invincible” sets the tone for the entire mixtape. The song is where Pop Smoke shows just how cocky and confident he is. He states, “It’s a hundred n***** in the spot, I’m walking through em all.” Within the song Pop also pays homage to the Crips, a gang he was once associated with.

The second track, “Shack the Room”, comes in hard with Quavo and Pop Smoke’s vocals being displayed. The track was written by Jackson, Quavious, Marshall and Andre Loblack. The popular track debuted at #93 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the chart week of March 7th. “Shake the Room” suggests coming in and changing the dynamic completely which translated flawlessly through the hard beat and choir like vocals in the background of the song.

“Dior”, which is a bonus track from the deluxe edition of the mixtape, is another banger. The single was released on February 11th. The beat, produced by 808 Melo, has an orchestra and soft beat to it and gives the song much depth. Although the beat is soft, Pop comes hard with his lyrics. The single was the artist’s first solo hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The mixtape has a raw and dirty vibe that motivates you to get to it and be confident while doing it. With the grimmy lyrics written by Pop Smoke and most of the beats produced by 808 Melo, you can tell that he is a Brooklyn, New York native. In “Christopher Walking”, Smoke sampled 50 Cent’s “Window Shopper” single. Since Smoke’s passing, 50 Cent has announced publicly that he would be working to finish and debut Pop Smokes official album. So as music lovers we have not heard the last of Smoke and his amazing lyrics.

‘Meet the Woo 2’ receives 10 stars out of 10 stars.
