It’s that time of year again where the seasons change along with the former Student Government Association’s (SGA) elected officials. On March 28, 2016 through April 4, 2016 the hopeful candidates campaigned to become the newest representatives for Alcorn State University’s SGA for the 2016-2017 academic year.

To familiarize the student body with the candidates vying for the SGA positions, the Alcorn State SGA 2015-2016 members presented a forum entitled, “Meet the Candidates” on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 6:00 pm in the Campus Multipurpose Room. Here, the candidates each gave speeches as to why they would be the ideal candidate for that particular position.

On Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Student Union in the Multipurpose Room from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm the voting for the prospective candidates began. The candidates were forewarned that if any candidate didn’t get 50 percent of the vote then there would be a run off on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Student Union in the Multipurpose Room from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm. According to the election results on April 5, the run off system was not needed.

Here are the newly elected officials for the 2016-2017 Student Government Association.
