A$AP Ferg, was born Darold Durard Brown Ferguson Jr., in Harlem, New York on October 20, 1988. He was raised in Hamilton Heights (Hungry Ham) by his Trinidadian parents. Ferg’s father, Darold “D-Ferg”, owned a Harlem boutique where he printed shirts and record label logos. He is solely responsible for the Bad Boy Records’ logo that you saw P. In 2005, Ferg launched an original fashion line entitled “Devoni Clothing” and designed/distributed high-end belts which have been worn by R&B mogul Chris Brown and beat legend, Swizz Beatz. Around Harlem, Ferg was known as the “Trap Lord” due to his incredible ability to find the art of hustle in everything he enjoyed. He didn’t start taking rapping seriously until 2009 when A$AP Rocky encouraged him to pursue a rapping career. Together they’ve made several hits like “Kissin’ Pink” and collaborated on several lyrical melodies for A$AP Mobs ‘Lord$ Never Worry’ and ‘Cozy Tape Vol. 1 and 2’.
