Girl’s Coalition hosted a Recruitment Soiree on September 5th, at 5:30 pm in the Clinton Bristow Dining Facility Gold Room. Girl’s Coalition’s goal is to empower, lead, and mentor self-love for the women on the campus of Alcorn State University (ASU). It is an organization that inspires and uplifts collegiate women through mentorship and organized fellowship. The organization was charted on the Alcorn campus in the Fall of 2017.

There were 185 girls in attendance at the Recruitment Soiree. The attendants were required to wear business dressy attire. During the event, the food was catered and the young ladies were entertained by DJ SUPERSTAR SWAZY. There was a formal program set in place including a welcome, occasion, invocation, special presentation, Girl’s Coalition history/background, application process/procedure, and closing remarks. The goal of the new membership drive was to accept new members in the organization for the 2018-2019 academic school year.

Erica Nelson, Vice President of Girl’s Coalition, explained how she is looking forward to working with new members, “After the recruitment dinner, there are now 100 new members in our organization and we are grateful for the new young ladies. We would like to welcome all women of Alcorn to join in our upcoming events.” Girl’s Coalition has already begun making an impact on ASU’s campus by hosting several events such as, Pink Out Stadium Clean Up, Twerk Aerobics, and the Back to School Supply Drive.
