It’s What’s Inside is categorized as a horror movie and officially made its debut on the popular streaming service Netflix, at the beginning of October, giving anxious viewers the chance to watch the film. The movie was initially released on January 19, 2024 and is 1 hour and 43 minutes long. It features actors such as Reina Hardesty, James Morosini, and Madison Davenport.
The plot of this movie is based around a group of high school/college friends who recently reconciled their friendship years later after a huge dispute amongst two of the characters. One of the characters involved in the dispute lived a very successful life after their dispute and completely ghosted his once friends, so it comes with much surprise when the character, Forbes (David W. Thompson) shows up to his old friend’s wedding party. Amidst all of the other drama amongst the other characters, Forbes introduces the group to a new game he and some of his team have been working on at his tech company. The game requires each of the characters to connect two wires to their head which will make them switch bodies with another person playing the game, giving them full control of their body. The game also requires a game master who programs who gets to steal whose body. Though some characters are a little weary of the game and whether they should trust Forbes, the entire group chooses to play. The game is 3 rounds, and the only way to be eliminated is if someone guesses who you truly are. The game takes a huge turn after a sequence of events and unveiling truths which cause chaos in the friend group yet again.
Throughout the beginning of the movie, I highly disliked how overlapping the dialogue was. Though I understand the style the writers might have been going for, it just resembled too much of a high school TV show. After the actual plot of the movie began, I found myself becoming more interested and understanding of its style. This movie is definitely one of those movies where you have to be patient and pay very close attention. As the characters started to play the actual game, I really enjoyed the way it was edited. Though, trying to keep up with everything was very mind boggling and I did find myself pausing the movie several times to review and understand who was who.
The movie certainly kept me on the edge of my seat. It did feature a couple of plot twists which I believe did steer the movie in a completely different direction than I thought that it would. It also didn’t necessarily leave off on a cliffhanger, but definitely provided enough suspense at the end which made me hope that there would be more parts to it. I highly recommend this to people who appreciate movies that exercise your brain.
