The pressure of not knowing what the next move in life will be can led to things like depression, isolation, and discontent. Here are a few tips to follow while you’re in college so that you won’t have to go down this road of despair.
TRY YOUR BEST TO KEEP A GOOD GPA
Maintaining a good Grade Point Average (GPA) is very important in college. It looks very good on a resume when you graduate with a good GPA. If you let your GPA slip, it is hard to get it up again. If your GPA is not that good, all hope is not lost, just do your very best to bring it back up. The better your GPA is, the better your resume will look, which means the greater your chances of getting an interview for a good job in your major will be.
MAKE CONNECTIONS
Make connections with students, teachers, other staff members, and people working jobs in your field. It always helps to have connections. You never know what the future may bring. An Instructor could write a recommendation letter for you. Your classmates could be your future co-workers or bosses somewhere down the line. You may be in need of a job and knowing someone can help in that type of situation. People working in your field can help as well. It is good to establish relationships with people in the career path you would like to take because it helps to set a platform when you graduate.
GET PLENTY OF COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS, JOB EXPERIENCE, AND INTERNSHIPS AS POSSIBLE
Community service looks good on a resume and in an interview. A future employer sees it as, “If you can do this for free, I know they will do well when they are getting paid.” It is especially good if you get community service in your major. Gaining job experience before graduation from college is a major advantage. It enforces the fact that this is what you want to do. It is also important to get internships as well. That makes your resume look good. It shows that you are willing to work and do not have to be taught every thing from scratch which is what people want. The less they have to teach you, the better.
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR MAJOR TAUGHT YOU WHILE YOU WERE IN COLLEGE
Remember what you have been taught in your classes required for your major. Read some extra books on your own time if you have to. Review old and new information every once in a while because you will need this information when you graduate. If you manage to slip through college without knowing some crucial things for the career you are trying to pursue, you will not get a job in that field, or get fired very quickly, so make sure to retain the important information that was taught during your years in college.

It is not easy to stay in college and graduate, but it is only the beginning. Life after getting your degree can be harder. The adult world is difficult, and without the proper preparation, one may be doomed to fail.
