Transitioning into Fall Fashion

Goodbye Summer and hello Autumn. With the colder months fast approaching it’s time to pack away those sandals and break out those super cute boots you’ve had stored away. But before you store all of your summer clothes in those containers there are some pieces that can still get as much wear as they would during the Summer.

If you’ve read any of my other fashion articles you know that I am a firm believer in wearing certain staples in my wardrobe all year round. It may seem taboo and maybe it is but you’d be surprised at how fashion works in that way. In this article we’ll go over all the tools of the style trade including layering and the latest trends for the upcoming season.

Crop tops have their place in any outfit but even when the weather outside is a little below 70 degrees you can still make them work. How, you ask? Layers, layers, layers.  In the Fall lighter layers work best. Meaning flannels or heavier jackets paired with your favorite skirts and jeans can create a perfect Fall look. You’ll stay warm and still have the options of adding your own flavor.

Try finding high waist pants and skirts to have more of a peek-a-boo belly instead a full cropped look. In that way your top will still have its crop while covering you enough to keep your look in season. A high waist skirt adds sophistication to your crop top.

Maxi skirts are so much fun during the Summer. They are just about perfect for any occasion whether it be on the beach, the mall or a wedding. The perfect maxi dress is a must have in any wardrobe. But just because it’s getting cooler out doesn’t mean you have to throw it in the Summer box. Your maxi dress can still be great even in the Fall after adding a cardigan, a pair of thigh high socks and a cute pair of booties.

Stick to solid color maxi dresses with a darker or warmer color such as greens and yellows. Any jacket, flannel or cardigan will keep you warm up top while your socks and boots keep your feet toasty. This is more of a Bohemian style but feel free to change it up however you like, remember to make any outfit your own.

Shorts aren’t just good for the Summer. I know what you’re thinking, no way, right? Wrong. On a warmer Fall day, shorts can be layered just like everything else. A pair of high waist shorts that is. Adding a pair of thigh high socks and thigh high boots will make your shorts go from Summer to Fall. Make sure you include a cardigan or an oversized jacket to complete your look.

Denim hasn’t gone out of style since it was invented. Well, maybe it has but I haven’t noticed. However, celebrities such as Rihanna and Beyoncé have been spotted in all denim outfits that look amazing. Denim fitted pencil skirts are the latest trend and every girl needs one in her closet. You can create a sophisticated look and add a denim button down to your pencil skirt. Or make it fun by including a denim traveler’s hat to an all-black outfit.

Stick to these tips and you’ll be able to make your Summer pieces work all year round. Remember, crop tops work best with high waist skirts or pants. Maxi dresses and skirts are perfect with thigh high socks and boots. Shorts aren’t restricted to the Summer and including a cardigan is a great way to complete any of these looks and remember layering is your best friend. Until next time, peace and love.
