As the holiday season approaches, Alcorn State University’s radio station WPRL 91.7 FM will be hosting an annual Christmas toy drive beginning on November 15th and ending on December 21st, 2016. The purpose of this event is to collect toys and other items that can be donated to less fortunate families in surrounding areas during the holidays. The drive was started five years ago by the Gospel Director of WPRL , Jerome Myles.
The radio station has partnered with the Claiborne County Human Resources Center and the Jefferson County Human Resources Center to find those families who are having difficulties providing gifts for their children this year. “It is important for people to know that there are still families out here that just don’t have it. So the benefit of this drive is being able to help some young person out,” said Myles.
Toys can be donated Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at WPRL’s radio station which is located on the main campus in Lorman, MS behind the Industrial Technology Building. If you are unable to drop off the item you wish to donate, pick-ups are available by calling (601) 877-6290, (601) 877-6594 or by emailing Jerome Myles at email@example.com.
