Tall, dark, and handsome are three words that come to mind when discussing the talented 47- year-old Morris Lamont Chestnut. Chestnut is an American actor born in Cerritos, California on January 1, 1969 to Shirley and Morris Chestnut, Sr. He attended and graduated from Richard Gahr High School in 1986 and later studied Finance and Drama at California State University, Northridge.

Having a career spanning over twenty years, the versatile actor has played in a number of television series and plays and starred in over two dozen movies. His career took off from his groundbreaking role as Ricky Baker in the 1991 film Boyz n the Hood, written by John Singleton, where he played a high school running back who uses his football skills to escape the violence of his South Central Los Angeles neighborhood. He later starred in other films such as G.I. Jane (1997), The Best Man (1999), The Brothers (2001), Two Can Play That Game (2001), Like Mike (2002), Breakin’ all the Rules (2004), Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), Not Easily Broken (2009), Kick-Ass 2 (2013), The Best Man Holiday (2013), The Perfect Guy (2015), and most recently When the Bough Breaks (2016).

Chestnut has been married to Pam Byse Chestnut since 1996. The couple have two children, a son named Grant and a daughter named Paige. The Chestnuts reside in Hollywood, California.
