Megan Pete a.k.a. Meg Thee Stallion was born on February 15, 1995. The Houston native is no stranger to music thanks to her mother Holly Thomas who rapped under the name “Holly-Wood” back in the day. Thomas would bring Pete along with her to her studio sessions which inevitably would inspire Thee Stallion immensely to pursue a career in music later on in life. Growing up, she adopted the name Megan Thee Stallion because she was referred to as a “stallion” due to her height which is 5’10″. She began writing her own raps at the age of 14. When she revealed to her mother that she wanted to pursue a rapping career, Thomas told her that she must wait until she was 21.

In 2013, a small clip of Stallion beating her male counterpart in a freestyle battle while attending Prairie View A&M University helped her gain stardom and digital presence. After taking time off from school, she resumed her studies at Texas Southern University in Health Administration. In a Source interview, she gave a synopsis of what she would do if her music career floundered and she had to use her Health Administration degree. She stated, “I want to open up some assisted living facilities around my city and take care of the elderly people — well, all the people in my city. I want to open up those assisted living facilities and I want my classmates to run it because you know when you get out of college it’s kind of hard to find a job.”

Social media has been the driving factor in her rise to the top. Her “hotties” (fans), as Stallion likes to call them, have all been posting her freestyles on Instagram since the beginning of her college career.

Thee Stallion released her first mixtape ‘Rich Ratchet’ in 2016. The following year, she released her first EP entitled, ‘Make It Hot.’ The single “Last Week in HTX” hit four million views on YouTube. In early 2018, she signed with former Major League Baseball player Carl Crawford’s Label: 1501 Certifies Ent. Under the label 1501, she performed at South by Southwest in March of 2018, and released a 10 song EP entitled, ‘Tina Snow’ in June of that year. The EP was named after her alto ego who she describes as the more “raw version” of herself.

In November of 2018, she announced that she had signed with 300 Entertainment which is an American label founded by Lyor Cohen and other executives rostering artists such as Fetty Wap, Shy Glizzy, Tee Grizzly, Young Thug, etc. She is the first female artist to be signed to the label. Currently she is still Houston based and mourning the recent loss of her mother.
