Gamma Pi Chapter Holds Miss Krimson and Kream Pageant

On Wednesday, February 12th, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.’s, Gamma Pi Chapter hosted a “ Miss Krimson and Kream Pageant.” The pageant took place in the James L. Bolden Campus Union Ballroom at 7:11 pm.

The pageant consisted of 6 contestants which were Annie Cherry, a Computer Science major from Monroe, Louisiana, Reionna Green, a Veterinarian Science major from New Orleans, Louisiana, Shantica Kincaide, a Criminal Justice major from Coffeville, Mississippi, Kiana Nicholson, a Biology Pre-Physical Therapy major from Jackson, Mississippi, Shanique Strickland, a Social Work/Criminal Justice major from Memphis, Tennessee, and Kennedy B. Weston, a Criminal Justice major from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Jacob King, a member of the Gamma Pi Chapter and Miracle Crosby hosted the event. There were three categories in the pageant which were talent, formal, and “Lady in Red”. The first category was talent where Cherry read a spoken-word piece, Green performed a solo monologue, Kincaide played a solo piece on the trombone, Nicholson did a praise dance, Strickland also read a spoken-word piece, and Weston did a solo dance.

The second category was formal wear where Cherry wore an elegant all black dress, Green sported an off the shoulder baby blue dress with a slit, Kincaide rocked a black dress with silver accessories, Strickland dazzled in a lavender sequined dress, Nicholson represented in a sparkling rose gold gown, and  Weston stunned the audience with her choice of an all black floral dress.

The last category was entitled “Lady in Red”. Cherry came out in a sparking red mermaid dress, Green wowed the crowd with a red ruffled dress, Kincaide wore a shimmering red dress, Nicholson sported a long satin red dress, Strickland bedazzled with her red dress with layered ruffles followed by Weston who awed the audience with her choice of a red dress with a train and side slit.

For intermission there was a fashion show where the T.R.E.N.D. Modeling Squad showcased their talents by walking the runway.

At the end of the pageant, judges tallied up the votes. The winner of the Miss Krimson and Kream Pageant was Shanique Strickland and the runner-up was Kennedy B. Weston, who was crowned Miss Gamma Pi.
