HomeTHE POET’S CORNERI Watched You Walk to Your Demise

I Watched You Walk to Your Demise

I watched you walk blindly

Step by step scaring me

Closer and closer to the edge

But I stay silent. I say nothing instead

Of warning you,

You are about to die

I keep my mouth shut

Watching with wide eyes

Because if I tell you

You’re going the wrong way

You might be offended

And ignore what I say

Or you might persecute me

For telling the truth

Instead of listening

So I can save you

You may reject me

For giving direction

Because you are too ignorant

To receive correction

So I’ll stay quiet

To keep my friend

Knowing that you will die

In the end

Instead of warning you

By saying the things I should tell

I’ll let you keep walking

Straight into Hell

This is the story

Crying as you step

The silent Christian

I watched you walk to your death.
